The woman who accused Conor Oberst of rape is coming forward to admit that the story she told was "100 percent false."

Back in December Joanie Faircloth publicly claimed the Bright Eyes frontman sexually assaulted her in the comments section of an XOJane article.  Oberst called the story "absolutely, unequivocally false," and later sued Faircloth for libel.

Now she's asking for forgiveness, explaining that she "made up those lies" during a difficult period in her life when she was dealing with her son's illness.

In the statement released Monday, Faircloth apologizes to Oberst, his family, his fans, and all those who are actually victims of sexual assault.
