A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Cincinnati was delayed for four hours on Sunday (November 9) after a passenger discovered a loaded ammunition magazine near her seat during boarding at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The passenger immediately notified a flight attendant, leading to the evacuation of all passengers from Flight 4771.
Security personnel re-screened the passengers and conducted a thorough search of the aircraft to ensure no additional threats were present. The only individuals permitted to bring a loaded magazine onto a plane are federal officers. The investigation revealed that the ammunition belonged to a law enforcement officer who had traveled on an earlier flight using the same aircraft. The Atlanta Police Department took custody of the magazine and will return it to its owner.
Frontier Airlines stated that firearms and ammunition are prohibited in carry-on luggage, with exceptions for law enforcement officers meeting specific requirements. The incident highlights the importance of strict adherence to security protocols to ensure passenger safety.
