2020 NFL Team Previews According to Vegas Sharps: Los Angeles Chargers

2020 NFL Team Previews According to Vegas Sharps: Los Angeles Chargers

Listen to NFL Vegas sharps RJ Bell and Steve Fezzik join Jonas Knox on ‘Straight Out of Vegas’ to preview the 20th ranked team on their 2020 win/total prediction rankings, the Los Angeles Chargers.

For the first time since 2003, a Chargers team will not feature beloved former quarterback Philip Rivers, who moved on to the Indianapolis Colts after 13 seasons in San Diego, and three in Los Angeles.

Rivers would go 123-101 from 2006-2019, as the Chargers enjoyed a few specials seasons in the late 2000’s that tragically blew greatshots at Super Bowls. Unfortunately the Chargers ran into the New England Patriots dynasty in 2006 and 2007, and were ousted by Mark Sanchez and the Jets in 2009 in their three best knocks at championships when they boasted stars the likes of Ladainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Antonio Cromartie, Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates, and Shawne Merriman.

Those teams led by Marty Schottenheimer slowed faded into oblivion, as the Chargers would soon become one of the league’s most consistently mediocre franchises.

The team will look to first round Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert as Rivers’ replacement, with the roster still boasting elite weapons the likes of Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Hunter Henry.

In the offseason the Chargers added cornerback Chris Harris Jr. from the Broncos, linebacker Nick Vigil from the Bengals, defensive tackle Linval Joseph from the Vikings, offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga from the Packers, and swapped offensive lineman Trai Turner for Russell Okung in one sneaky good winter.

The Chargers lost the aforementioned Rivers and Okung, as well as Melvin Gordon, Derek Watt, Michael Scofield, Brandon Mebane, Thomas Davis, Adrian Phillips, and Jaylen Watkins.

Los Angeles is 45/1 to win the Super Bowl, 22/1 to win the Super Bowl, 9/1 to win the AFC West, and 9/5 to make the playoffs.
