Vontaze Burfict's Unprecedented Suspension Was Way Too Severe

Oakland Raiders v Indianapolis Colts
Ben Maller: “What are the chances that Vontaze Burfict plays another game for the Raiders this season? I’m going to set the odds at (-800) that Burfict DOES play for the Raiders again this year. That implies there is an 80% chance that he’ll be able to play. Burfict is public enemy no. 1, the heel, the scoundrel, and the hoodlum of football and there are many people rejoicing over this punishment. The NFL received a great amount of applause by the media elites and the intellectuals who write these columns saying the NFL didn’t go far enough and should have banned him for life! But Burfict has a very strong case on why the punishment is excessive. The consistency of these fines and ejections is comical and subjective. Nine other players have received season-long suspensions, and do you know what those people did? Hard drugs, gambling, domestic abuse, and vehicular manslaughter… But this is an ON-FIELD situation and was a FOOTBALL play. The Colts tight end, Jack Doyle, was getting up to run, so it’s not as egregious as it’s being painted as by many in the mainstream media. Burfict is going to win this appeal.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Ben Maller explain why he’s extremely confident that abhorred Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict, facing a year-long suspension the next 12 games that would include the postseason as well, will win his impending appeal with the NFL.

Burfict received the steepest penalty in league history for an infraction made on the field after he hit crushed Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle in an ugly helmet-to-helmet hit that got Burfict ejected from the game.

Maller calls the suspension laughably excessive, and says there’s no way a ‘football play’ can result in a season-long suspension that some in the media are even saying should be a Pete Rose-type lifetime ban, given Burfict’s dark history of cheap shots.

Check out the audio below as Maller defends Burfict and calls out the ‘media elites’ calling for Burfict's annihilation from football.
