Joel Embiid Named NBA's Most Valuable Player for 2022-23 Season
(Philadelphia, PA) -- Joel Embiid is the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2022-23 season. The 76ers center averaged a career-high 33-point-one points on 54-point-eight percent shooting. It was the highest point total for a center since Wilt Chamberlain averaged 33-and-a-half points per game during the 1965-66 season. Embiid averaged 10-point-two rebounds, four-point-two assists and one-point-seven blocks in 66 regular season games. He was also named to his sixth-straight All-Star game. The seven-footer from Cameroon is doubtful to play in tonight's Game Two in Boston, still recovering from a knee injury sustained in the first round series vs the Nets. Philly leads the second-round series vs the Celtics one-to-nothing.
