Joel Embiid To Have Meniscus Knee Surgery This Week

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Philadelphia 76ers player Joel Embiid [[ im-BEED ]] reportedly will lose the chance to be named the NBA's M-V-P for a second time. Team officials say he'll have surgery this week to correct an injury to the lateral meniscus in his left knee. He injured it this past week in a game with the Golden State Warriors. In announcing the surgery Sunday night, team officials didn't speculate on how much time he's expected to miss. Industry doctors have said healing could take between four and eight weeks, but the exact time depends on the severity and position of the tear.
