Former Penn State linebacker LaVar Arrington has been announced as the guest picker for ESPN's College GameDay, which will be broadcast live from Penn State's Old Main Lawn on Saturday (September 27). Arrington, a Nittany Lions legend, will predict college football's biggest games of the weekend, marking his first appearance in this role.

Arrington played for Penn State from 1997 to 1999, where he earned All-American honors and finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1999. His outstanding performance on the field earned him the Bednarik, Butkus, and Lambert Awards. He was the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, selected by the Washington Redskins, and played seven seasons in the NFL. Arrington was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022.

The game against Oregon will be particularly special for Arrington, as his son, LaVar Arrington II, is a freshman linebacker for the Nittany Lions. The White Out game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on NBC. College GameDay will air from 9 a.m. to noon, with Arrington joining the final segment to make his picks alongside Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, and Pat McAfee. The show will also feature the Penn State women's volleyball team and a segment on the White Out tradition.
