The ratings were down for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and Dan isn’t surprised considering the poor scheduling decision to play the game right after the NFL Divisional games. They got caught up in a vortex of the NFL and need to make some changes if they want to compete for fans’ attention. Dan proposes an idea he’s convinced would vault college football past the NFL in the hearts of fans.
Dan Patrick: “As far as the National Title game, we suggested; why not on a Thursday night, prior to the Divisional games? There was such a long stretch in between and you’re, I don’t know, you just kind of, you lose that. You get lost in that vortex that’s known as the NFL. But the ratings were down and I think you gotta change that...If anybody is going to attack the NFL for popularity; if I put relegation in, where you’re watching games that you would never watch but now all of a sudden there’s relegation? Oh, God. That’s when every game counts.”
