Covino & Rich are filling in for Dan Patrick this morning and found themselves surprised at how much they were rooting for Tampa Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield in his failed attempt to come back against the Cowboys yesterday. Mayfield has completely repaired his image and is now a fan favorite.
Rich Davis: “The guy I’m talking about went from, you rolled your eyes at him, hard to root for him, to a guy that I think it’s hard NOT to root for him. I’m talking about Baker Mayfield. I felt for him last night...”
Steve Covino: “At first you didn’t like him. He was sort of a hated player. He had all these dance moves, he was rubbing people the wrong way; his game play wasn’t matching the swag. Now, he’s a guy who’s turned it around, he got bounced around and you’re rooting for the heart that he has.”
