Wow! Sherry Christian is Leaving CBS21 After 17 Years!

MORNING NEWS ANCHOR TO LEAVE CBS 21 AFTER 17 YEARS

HARRISBURG, PA., July 16, 2019 – CBS 21 News this Morning anchor Sherry Christian is leaving CBS 21 after 17 years. July 30th will be Sherry’s last day behind the desk of CBS 21 News this Morning where she has anchored or co-anchored the show since 2002. Sherry currently anchors the show with Meteorologist Steve Knight and Ashley Honea.

“We are extremely grateful for Sherry’s 17 years here at CBS 21,” said CBS 21 General Manager Bill Bradley. “Her dedication to her job and her community will be missed. We wish Sherry and her family the best as they relocate to Baltimore.”

Throughout her years at CBS 21 Sherry has earned numerous awards for reporting excellence and community service. She has dedicated much of her time to supporting our local communities by serving on the boards of several civic organizations including Goodwill Industries, Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, United Way and the Harrisburg Autism Society.

Prior to her arrival in Central Pennsylvania, Sherry Christian held positions at WWJ-TV in Detroit, WMAR-TV in Baltimore, WPDE-TV in Florence, South Carolina and WTXL-TV in Tallahassee, Florida. Sherry says she was primed for a career in television news by her father's military career. Growing up she lived in many different cities including Manila, Philippines.

Sherry will be leaving the Harrisburg area but she will not be going far. She plans on moving to Baltimore, a place that has strong ties to her and her family.

“Being a parent, I know there comes a time when your children grow up and head out on their own. This is how I feel after 17 years with CBS 21,” said Sherry. “I’m finally maturing and setting out to spread my wings and fly! Just what direction those wings will take me is still a little out of focus. For almost 2 decades, my family and I have called Central PA home. When you’ve lived somewhere that long, you build very strong, special relationships – personal and professional. I’m comforted knowing that although the next chapter of my career will take me out of the Harrisburg area, Central PA and the people here will always hold a very dear place in my heart.”

CBS 21 plans to celebrate Sherry’s impact on the station and Central Pennsylvania on July 30th on CBS 21 News this Morning.
