Governor Signs Two Police Reform Bills

>>Governor Signs Two Police Reform Bills

(Williamsport, PA) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is moving forward with two police reform bills after signing them yesterday. Wolf says they made progress in six weeks, but the bills he signed are not enough to halt the systemic racism and oppression that exists in the commonwealth. One bill will require police agencies to conduct thorough background checks for new hires with a statewide database that provides details on their disciplinary actions and separation records of all officers in the state. The other bill requires police to undergo training on how to treat people of diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds along with PTSD tests every two years or within 30-days of a lethal use-of-force and more.
