On Saturday (July 5), bomb squads from the FBI and Pennsylvania State Police responded to a potential threat at an apartment in West Lampeter Township, Pennsylvania. Roads were closed for over 10 hours as authorities investigated the situation on Village Road.
According to Officer Jesse Blank of the West Lampeter Police Department, police evacuated the area around the 1000 block of Village Road out of caution after receiving information about a possible threat. Bomb units conducted a controlled detonation test on a suspicious item, which did not explode and was ultimately deemed not dangerous.
Lieutenant Jeremy Schroeder explained that the item looked like a bomb but lacked the means to explode. He emphasized that the safety of the community was their top priority, leading to the precautionary measures taken, including evacuations.
CBS 21 reported that officers were on the scene from noon until about 9:30 p.m. The area has since reopened, and police have confirmed there was no direct threat to the public.
