(Derry Township, PA) -- Local officials are warning people of the risks of the Swatara Creek after multiple incidents over the holiday weekend. On July 4th around 1:45 p.m., Hershey Fire and Rescue responded to several people in distress on the water near the railroad bridge in Swatara Creek. Then around 5 p.m., Hershey Fire and other crews responded to the dam head in South Hanover Township. More than a dozen people were rescued between the two incidents, including nine who were caught in the dam swell.
