>Twelve Arrested After Incident At Fireworks Event

A fireworks event at Koons Park in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, ended with the arrest of twelve individuals last Thursday (July 3). Lower Paxton Township police reported that the charges ranged from disorderly conduct to aggravated assault. Among those arrested, eleven were teenagers, while one adult was taken into custody for outstanding felony warrants.

The incident involved a variety of charges, including drug possession, evading arrest, obstructing highways, and underage possession of alcohol. Police also recovered a BB gun resembling a handgun from a 19-year-old. Additionally, authorities are investigating a female suspect who allegedly threw a firework into a crowd during the event.

The fireworks event at Koons Park has a history of disturbances, prompting law enforcement to increase their presence this year. Last year, several fights broke out among juveniles, leading to multiple arrests. Despite discussions about moving the event to George Park for safety reasons, the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors decided to keep it at Koons Park.

The police department expressed gratitude to all law enforcement, fire, EMS, and fire police personnel who contributed to ensuring the safety of attendees. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as it progresses.
