A Lancaster man, Mupisi Mizowa, 43, is in custody after allegedly hitting a police vehicle while driving under the influence. The incident occurred on Monday night (July 7) in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. According to Ephrata Police, Mizowa was seen driving recklessly around 7:23 p.m., prompting a 911 call from another motorist. When police attempted to stop him, Mizowa refused to pull over and instead crashed into one of the police cruisers.
After the collision, Mizowa was found to be under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.226%, nearly three times the legal limit. During his arrest, Mizowa allegedly kicked an officer while resisting being taken into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and DUI.
Mizowa was taken to Lancaster County Prison and is being held on $50,000 bail. He is charged with one count of DUI-Highest Rate of Alcohol and one count of DUI-General Impairment, as reported by Lancaster Township Police Department.
