(Washington, DC) -- TSA is asking for patience at airports as the government shutdown continues. A TSA spokesperson said agents are prepared to continue screening two-point-five-million passengers but warned that an extended shutdown could result in longer wait times. According to TSA, about 61-thousand of the 64-thousand workers are considered excepted or exempt while the rest of the employees will be temporarily furloughed. Most of the TSA workers will not be paid until the end of the shutdown battle, but they will be expected to work and receive back pay once the government is funded.
