Mason-Dixon Ride For Life To Raise Funds For Evidence Based Suicide and Self Harm Prevention Program

Suicide is the second leading cause of death in children and young adults. It is estimated that one out of every two children and young adults between the ages of 10 and 24 engage in self harm on a regular and continuing basis. It is the intention of Families Renewed, Inc. to drastically lower those numbers.

York County, Pennsylvania, October 5, 2023, 11:00 A.M. – Families Renewed, Inc., has put together a motorcycle ride to raise funds for its suicide and self harm prevention program. The ride will start at the Mason-Dixon Fairgrounds in Delta, PA and end behind the Pleasant Hill Fire Company just south of Hanover, PA, on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Registration will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the fairgrounds. The registration fee is $20.00 for motorcycle and driver, and $10.00 for riders. Once at Pleasant Hill Fire Company, participants will enjoy live musical entertainment from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 P.M. Food will be available for purchase at both locations. Non-participants are welcome to enjoy the entertainment and discuss the issues surrounding suicide and self harm among children and young adults.

Proceeds from the event will help fund Families Renewed’s suicide and self harm prevention program called Life Behavioral Skills Training (LifeBST). LifeBST is an evidence based K-12 curriculum that, based on current evidence, will lower the incidence of suicide and self harm in our target age group, ages 10 to 24. In addition, the evidence suggests this program can also lower the incidence of drug and alcohol abuse and school violence in general including high profile school violence with multiple casualties.

More information about the ride, including any last minute changes the day of the ride, can be found at www.masondixonrideforlife.org.
